At Mabhena Therapy, our occupational therapists are passionate about helping people develop the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to participate meaningfully in everyday life, whether at home, in the community, at school, or in the workplace. Our goal is to empower individuals to live with greater autonomy and purpose, in ways that matter most to them. Through capacity building therapy, we work with clients to develop functional skills that support:

• Greater independence in personal care and daily routines at home
• Improved access, safety, and mobility in everyday environments
• Active and confident participation in community and social life
• Stronger decision-making, planning, and goal-setting abilities
• Increased readiness and capability for education or employment
• Reduced barriers to independence through assistive technology and environmental supports

Our mental health occupational therapists are trained in the specific area of assisting people who have experienced adverse life circumstances, such as grief and adjustment, emotions, trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), substance use disorders, stress and parenting, and can help people with severe and complex mental health conditions, from anxiety and depression, to personality disorders, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Our occupational therapy program for sensory processing is aimed to assist individuals living with neurodevelopment conditions (ASD, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Global Developmental Delay etc) to improve their daily living skills, while also addressing behavioural challenges.

Our equipment assessment and prescription program ensures that the clients functional needs are considered when recommending equipment. Our occupational therapists will recommend appropriate equipment, trial before prescription, provide training/education and follow up to assess if any adjustments are required.

Our home modification program helps individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions to live safely and independently in their homes. We provide recommendations and assistance with home modifications, such as grab bars, ramps, and lifts and other minor or major modifications.
